I am a Moderate myself. Political moderates are "bi-polar" in the sense that they side with right-wingers on certain classes of issues, but with left-wingers on others....

I support liberal and "progressive" democrats. I find that I am a tad to the left of many democrats, and I don't vote party lines (I'll gladly vote for a Green Party candidate). I generally support candidates who I can really get behind on a number of issues. My biggest issues these days being the war, environment, gay marriage, abortion, stem cell research and funding for education/public safety.

I was thinking about that when I replied, but I suppose we could always look at this as an "are you right winged, left winged, or flying straight?" Type conversation.

We have quite a bit of choice in the UK, although most parties only really stand a chance at getting representatives at council level so they can air their parties' single policy.

The Seniors party isn't on that list. Maybe they're just a local gang. They had two policies. No to the war and yes to pensions.

Last local election I only had the choice of the main three. We normally have a Greeny but I think he was nobbled. Labour want to shut the local hospital and are ruled by Satan, the Tory candidate is an old git, the Lib Dems are hand wringing and ineffective and wear cardigans. I voted LD as the lesser of three evils.

I am about as conservitive as they come. One thing I have noticed about elections with a third party here in the States - the third party usually just ends up hurting the major party they are most like, i.e. Nader hut Kerry's chances of winning, even though most of the people voting for him would have preferred Kerry to Bush given only those two choices.

Actually, Nader had little to do with Kerry's loss. You are thinking about the previous election, when Al Gore won the popular vote, but lost the election because of our antiquated election system (electoral votes are silly in my opinion). If Nader had not been on Florida's ballots, Gore would have won. Of course, there were a lot of other problems in that election (and the 2004 election as well) that I consider larger issues than a third party candidate.
