I'm new, I'm looking for a book I glimpsed in barnes an nobles awhile ago.

It began with something about a boy throwing a snowball in his youth that sets off a huge chain of events later on in his life.
Apparantly it's a really long series though I could be wrong about this.
Anyway, I just remembered it, not even sure why I remembered it but Id like to read it.
Sorry I can't give any other information than that, I hope someone can help me out on this, thanks.

Oh woops, I just remembered theres a famous magician that makes an appearance later in the series?I think one of the characters has to portray him in a movie in the book later on?Again, not sure.

I think you mean Fifth Business by Robertson Davies. It's the start of a trilogy.
