Question About College Degree:

-Carlos-

New Member
Can a person have two (2) Associate Degrees? I know it sounds like a dumb question, sorry. :whistling:

I'm not certain as I am not in the US and don't have to deal with such things, but since you can have several university degrees I don't see why that shouldn't be possible with an associate's degree either.

I don't see why not? Colleges love getting paid. You pay for it, they'll give it.

I googled it, and here it is:

Second Associate Degree

It is not possible to simultaneously work toward two degrees at the same level—such as two associate's degrees—using the same credit. However, students may pursue a second AA degree after the first AA degree has been awarded.

Here's the url: UMUC Asia - Associate Degrees

Of course you can. You can get multiple Bachelors degrees (and Doctorates too if you were feeling particularly masochistic).

ASL terp. (?)

I want to be a certified interpreter for the deaf. I want to be fluent in American Sign Language and work as an interpreter (terp) with a degree in the field. I know how to communicate manually now but I am not fluent, never taught. I taught myself all this time. I just had that degree question. So I can have two AA degrees. Great.

I worked at a school for the handicapped for two summers and used to be very good at sign language. Not "fluent" but I could hold conversations. I wish I didn't give it up.

You can still go for it. It's never too late. There are many resources on the Web that can get you back on the learning road. I am a high level beginner to a low level intermediate signer. The reason? I do not practice with the Deaf culture...I am learning solo. I love the language though. I am a very visual person so I grasp ASL faster than most things.

These are my regular (online learning sites):

www.signingsavvy.com
Fingerspelling Drills
www.aslpro.com
ASL Browser
www.asl.ms

There plenty of other sites plus books and DVD instructional material. The sooner you start, the sooner you will achieve fluency. If I get fluent in ASL, it'll be my third language...I'll be a trilingual! Go for it again dude!
