I'm currently collecting (or trying to collect) first edition/first printings of a series of books. One question I had was this:
One book I found is a stated first edition, with a full number line, except that the date after it says "first edition" is February 1990, when the book was published in January of 1990. So I'm wondering what is up with that? Other books I have of the series have a first edition date that matches up with the actual date of publication.
Can a book have a first edition date slightly off of the actual publication date, and still be a valid first edition?
