Rafael Sabatini: Scaramouche

Has anyone read Scaramouche or The devil in Love. I have been dipping into french works and were wondering if those two were good. The first line of Scaramouche looks good, "He was born with a gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad."

I haven't read either yet but after reading some quotes, including the opening line you posted, in The Club Dumas I have wanted to read them. They have Scaramouche at my library, so I will probably check it out as soon as I finish with the pile I have around here now.
