Rare editions--maybe I have one?!

I just found the exact edition of The Catcher in the Rye that I have been reading in an online sale for $9,000. Mine is in pristine condition, with a completely perfect dustjacket. Now, I do realize this is probably a hugely inflated price, but I bought the book used for $3 locally.

This website where I found it is great fun for looking at rare editions.

You might have something valuable and not know it. I sure can't believe this 1951 hardcover is worth that much! The cover is very cool, though. Salinger is even quoted talking about the novel on the book flap, and the description there is really a period piece, not a hint of how famous the book would become.

After years of digging around in thrift shops, Goodwills, flea markets, and auctions, would you believe that the only righteous first edition I ever found was Jack Kerouac's Visions of Cody, which really isn't all that desirable, apparently.
At any rate, Novella, congrats on the find. (I rather suppose that $9,000 is a "swing for the fences" kind of price, but for $3, who cares?)
