Reading Marathons!

How long have you gone reading, non-stop? I'm talking marathon reading!

I have done an entire weekend: Night and day without stopping- only for the can and to eat.

I have done a few marathons where I borrow my dad's summer cottage (no computer, no cable TV, few neighbours, nearest store 9 kilometres away) bring along a pile of thick books, canned foods, coffee and alcohol and spend a week reading. Obviously there's some sleep in there somewhere, but I can usually average just over a novel a day - for instance, I plowed through parts III-VI of "The Dark Tower" in about three days. "War and Peace" took me three days all by itself, though.

But I'm not so sure it really pays off in the long run. After one of those weeks, I'm usually pretty burned out on books for a while.

Marathons for me are usually about two hours or so. Often I can't sleep, so I'll get up and plan to read just a chapter or two and the next thing I know I've read the whole thing and it's 2:30 am..my alarm goes off at 5:30! Occassionally, very occassionally, my dh and I will spend an entire weekend evening reading. That's always nice.

I think my longest stretch would have been about ten or eleven hours when I was reading HP6 (which I have just realised I have lent to someone and they haven't returned....oooooooh!).

Good lord man, that is a bit....excessive. Though you you know that you can bring a book.....to the can with you.;)

Two hours for me.
