Saturday Night TV Programming

I was reading an article in the paper this morning and thought, how true it was. Saturday night TV is terrible. There are very few Network shows worth watching. Back in the 1970's CBS TV had a Saturday night lineup that may have been the best ever for a given night:

All In The Family
Mash
Mary Tyler Moore Show
Bob Newhart Show
Carol Burnett Show.

That lineup was pretty hard to beat, although many of you were too young to remember. :)

Saturday night tv in the UK may as well be called Granny TV Night. It seriously sucks bottoms, unless you are completely retarded, then you might be able to appreciate all the dross the channels spew out.
I sometimes think the TV channels are working in tandem with breweries: "Ok, there's nothing on tv, let's all get pissed down the pub."

If we have no plans on a Saturday night we will usually rent a movie, or invite friends over to play some games or to chat and have some drinks. Occassionally we watch Saturday Night Live, but it's not the same as 'back in the day', and it's on pretty darn late.

It's understandable that Saturday night tv is terrible. Why show the best on a night when most people are out?

When I am home though, I just watch Adult Swim on Cartoon Network (but even that doesn't start until 10pm Central).

CDA how right you are!
The pub it is then every saturday! :D

It's the same here, too. One channel plays rugby (there's a game just about every weekend) and the others don't really bother competing so they just put on crud. It really sucks if you don't like rugby :(

Well, this Saturday night on Spike TV they will start showing "Resevoir Dogs" (spelling?) at 7:00pm, Ultimate Fighter Unleashed at 9:00pm, and then Ultimate Fighter Season 2 (rerun from Monday night) at 10:00pm

and, The Flyers play the Maple Leafs starting at 7:30pm.....gotta love the remote....

This Saturday night looks absolutely great from where I sit.....:D

When I used to watch television on Saturday night, The District was my obsession... Not much to watch now. Catch a movie perhaps on the tube, but you're more likely to find me playing video games or surfing the net on the weekends.
