scorpion king

at the end when that guy lights his swords on fire, it doesn't seem like it would help.

I'm no fencer, but it seems like he's put at a marginal loss, since the heated swords are mostly closer to him than they are to his enemy the scorpion king, and so he might only have caused himself some pain.
...and the marginal loss is nearly the only issue, because if he were to land a hit on the scorpion king, would the cut be much more damaging? The only thing good about a lit sword would be to determine a standstill, as there are sometimes in movies when two fighters are locked in a position of crossed swords.

and I'm not even sure how his swords were lit, cause he just ran them through embers, it looked like.
