Hello,
This is a rather broad post, but I am searching for the title of a book that was required reading when I was in the 6th grade. I cannot for the life of me think of the title or the author (very helpful, I know). The book was about a man who passed away, leaving a will or inheritance for the person who could figure out a riddle of sorts that he left. There were a number of odd characters searching to decipher his riddle. Most notably: a young girl who followed the stock market, a heavy-set woman with crutches who kept her notes in short-hand so if someone stole them they wouldn't be able to read them, and a Chinese man (who at the end of the book opened up a number of Chinese restaurants called, "Who's on First," "Who's on Second," Who's on Third," etc. - referring to his last name, Who).
I can't imagine how vague this sounds, but if it rings a bell for anyone I would really appreciate it. I have been trying to come up with the title for MONTHS, to no avail.
Thanks again.
