Seeking a Read

Hi all.........I'm a fifty-0ne + year old married guy who doesn't have much time for reading, in the scheme of things. I DO "read" mind you, but I find I piece-meal my reading, and I jump around a tad, from author to author, subject to subject.

The wife likes to read and does so much more than I, but every night for about an hour each night, I read to her a chapter or two from whatever book strikes our fancy. Right now it's "Chesapeake." (sp?)

I have a question for all you avid readers............I'd like to find a mystery author who DOESN'T tell you "who done it." I'd like to read a book in which the author gives us a variety of characters to evaluate, based around an obvious crime, but who doesn't tell the reader "who" actually committed the crime, til the end of the story.

Is there an author out there like that? Is this a case of one book per author, or is there an author out there that has written many books in that way?

Suggestions, ideas?

I have read some of Loren D. Estleman's "Amos Walker" series that might fit the bill. Mind you, this is coming from someone that doesn't really like mysteries. I read them because of their setting (Detroit). But in each book you are never told who committed the crime until the end (or near the end).

thanks

Thanks Scooter........the wife and I usually go to Barnes & Noble at LEAST once a week (usually on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon or evening), and I'll look for the author you suggested.
