I have found interest in a book called "The Beet Fields: Memories of a Sixteenth Summer". I've read reviews and stuff but I had a question to anybody who has read it. Is it appropriate for a 7th grader to be using this book as a required book to read during school?
Since you sound unsure, you might show your parents the reviews for this book from amazon. I would want to read it so I could discuss it with my kids, but that's just me. Paulsen is a great writer, but not everyone would be comfortable handing this material to just any 7th grader. It's actually geared for mature teens. If my 7th grader wanted to read it, he or she would have to understand that mom or dad might also choose to read it too,and might have some things they want to discuss. Not a bad thing...
