A note from the author on the begining of the book explains about the Arabic alphabet and how each dot (1-3)positioned on an Arabic letter gives different meaning, more complex to decipher than not crossing a "t" in a certain word in a sentence.
"An inventory of the General Security Headquarters in central Baghdad reveals an obscure manuscript.Written by a young man held in security detention. The prose moves from prison life,to adolescent memories,to frightening hallucinations, and what emerges is a portrait of life in Saddam's Iraq."
Very well written,at 97 pages,it was worth the read.We hear about things like this going on and we read about them but we are all so far away from it that it seems fiction. There is not much more I can add after the quote above,it's a touching ,haunting story of a place with no freedom to speak, live or express yourself.
