I just watched Spanglish, with Adam Sandler, Tea Leoni, Paz Vega.

It was in parts funny, in parts disjointed, and many parts weird directing. It wasn't a *total* waste of my money (laugh), but I wished I Adam Sandler made me laugh more.

And I wanna say, Paz Vega - WOW. :D

Oh, and I loathe loathe loathe Adam Sandler and all the shit he produces - why he's such so succesful in the US completely baffles me.

Stiller's alright - better than Sandler, at any rate.

I didn't know she starred in the infamous Sex and Lucia. I need to see that flick.

Half the people living in this country are brainless idiots.
 
From what I understand, the milieu of Spanglish is that stereotype of gringo/beaner inequality, which is resolved with the other stereotype when the sensitive idiothead realizes that latina chicks are all sexy and lovely and appreciate everything despite having nothing, and white chicks are frigid, nasty neurotics who never appreciate anything.

So I won't be catching that one.

Funny enough, I'm reading Tortilla Curtain by TC Boyle, which plays with the same stereotypes. I'm just hoping he can find something fresh and new there and not make me regret reading his book. Let's hope there's a difference.

Eh. I didn't even think of that (obviously). I'm sure someone will be offended, but whatever. Life goes on...or at least it should.

Everyone loathes Adam Sandler!! Can I add Jim Carrey to the list? Yech. Who in Hollywood decided these guys were appealing?

Ben Stiller is another type. He's just had it too easy, being the spawn of two well known comedians. There are loads of second-gen "stars" rolling around the Hollywood Hills trying to hump someone with more entree--Drew Barrymore being the top of the heap perhaps. Keifer Sutherland, Carrie Fisher, Jamie Lee Curtis, Robert Downey Jr. all came out of a similar incubator. Can't swing a cat in Venice without hitting star spawn.

Only half of me is intelligent. The other half is good at sports. And the other half is still trying to find myself. :)
 
I don't know what you guys have against Adam Sandler but I like him. Ben Stiller on the other hand is complete rubbish.
