stand the uncut version

kickbox
yesterday i was about to buy the uncut version of "the stand" by stephen king
actually i did buy it, but as soon i realized it was an extended version of the stand ( in spanish the original and the new version has diferent names ) i ask the guy in charge of the store to make a change.
but now i im wondering if i should give it a try (after all its a good deal, two hardcover volumes for 4.5 €)
so i was wondering if any of you have read both versions, and if is worth to buy the second one (not for the deal, but about reading it).
obviously i have read the original one

also i guess we can use this thread to express views on extended versions of books.

I've only read the Uncut version of The Stand and I really liked it. I couldn't see myself reading the other version. It would seem pointless. Maybe if I had read the original one first, then read the Uncut???

I can't think of any other books that I've read that have been re-released with an extended edition.

I read the uncut version when I was in Spain with my family. Needed a good, long distraction. I can't imagine why I'd go back and read the shorter version, unless I wanted to make myself really angry

when i got the original one, i didnt know there was an uncut version
(the original one in spanish its call la danza de la muerte - dance of death - and the uncut one its call apocalipsis - apocalypsis - ) so i knew there was this book apocalipsis, but didnt had a clue it was the uncut version of la danza de la muerte.
