Subvocalization...Grrr!

How in the world do you rid yourself of subvocalization when reading?
Any tips/techniques that work?

Hold a pencil in your lips.

Also, notice your breathing, and maintain a regular, relaxed breathing pattern.

I suppose you could arm family members with water guns and give them permission to shoot you whenever they catch you in the act...:D

I'm not really sure what you mean.
Do you mean hearing what you are reading in your mind, or do you mean mouthing the words that you are reading?
If it's the first, I don't see a problem, unless it's slowing down your reading and you want to read faster. I always hear what I'm reading (or writing) in my mind, but I'm in no hurry.
If it's the second thing - that could be a problem. Chew gum?

Maybe you could hum something while you're reading?
If he started doing that, his family might have a go at him with REAL guns instead of water guns.
