Suggestion for Mystery/Thriller with the following requirements?

Does anyone have a recommendation for a mystery/thriller recommendation for me? I'm in the mood for something with:

1. An anti-hero, male detective as a protagonist (should be easy to find. :p). Perhaps a stoic but brilliant police investigator who's willing to do anything to solve his case? I'd like to avoid the "pulled from retirement/jaded and world-weary" trope though, so a younger protagonist might be ideal.
2. A modern setting, ideally set in the last decade?
3. A dark and gritty atmosphere.

I don't read many mystery novels, so anything should be new to me. Thanks in advance!

David Hewson's 'Nic Costa' series - naive young idealistic detective in Rome who rapidly becomes not so naive. Dark and gritty it is. All the murders have a bit of religious slant to them ie the first in the series has a serial killer who is re-enacting various gruesome deaths of early martyrs.

Lindsey Davis - 'Falco' series - detective series set in ancient Rome. Navigating the twists and turns of Vespasian's Rome, avoiding Caesar's agents and corruption at every turn Marcus Didius Falco solves the mystery, and keeps his very disparate and disorganised, venal and slightly corrupt family together. His father in particular is always up to something shady.

Thank you for the recommendations, I will check them out. :)
