Suggestions For A Great Murder/Mystery?

Hello,

As you can tell, this is my first time posting. I am looking for FANTASTIC murder/mystery novels to read. I am an avid reader of everything from WWII history to anything fiction. I tend to trend from one author to another when I get on a fiction kick. For a while it was Clancy and on to Christopher Reich. I read four or five Flynn books last winter. Just recently I finished Kiss the Girls by J. Patterson and I have Along Came A Spider waiting on my nightstand (I also am reading The Pacific by Ambrose during the day on my lunch breaks. Excellent account(s) of what our brave men endured in the Pacific during WWII). I love Kiss the Girls. I can't get enough of the murder/mystery that has tons of details on crime investigation and a climactic finish. A few years ago I read Zodiac by Robert Graysmith (I have a paperback copy autographed to my wife and I by Dave Toschi. My brother-in-law is SFPD) and it was great. I have read a lot of Koontz in the past (he is one of my favorites) with Watchers being one of my favorites of all time.

Anyway, can anyone recommend something along the lines of the Patterson stuff (even other Patterson stuff) that has a great twist at the conclusion? Thanks for any suggestions.

TJ

Perhaps you would like a novel called Three by Ted Dekker. It is somewhat like Christian fiction but does not really preach religion at all and has a very twisty and exciting finish as the Patterson story.

That looks very good. Thank you for the suggestion. I see it was made into a motion picture. Did you see it? Worth the watch after reading the book? Another set of authors whose work I have also read a lot are the Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston novels. They are a lot of fun if you've never tried them. In the late 90's a movie was made called the Relic (if you are not familiar with it) that was based on one of their early novels. I read it about five years ago and subsequently have read everything else they have done together. I have tried a few of their independant pieces of work and, in my opinion, they just aren't as good.

Yes I did see Relic and I also liked their books very much. Especially Riptide and The Codex.
I did not see movie Three however. I would like to however if they ever show it here.

First welcome to BAR TigerJon73.

Mystery/detective novels are my favorite genre to read.

I made a thread about Chris Reich here not too long ago so you can give me some opinions that would be great.

I have read several of Lincoln Child and Douglas Preston books which includes Riptide,The Relic, and Mount Dragon.

As for mystery, I'm a big fan of Michael Connelly. You should start with the Harry Bosch novels. Another great mystery is L.A. Requiem by Robert Crais, Bone Collector by Jeffery Deaver, Gravity by Tess Gerritsen.

@chiangmaifalcon, I've read Three and IMO I see that more of a thriller than a mystery.
