Susanna Kaysen's Girl, Interrupted

I recently finished this book. My expectations weren't very high, buying it mainly out of desperation. Much to my surprise I really enjoyed it. It may be nonfiction, but it reads very much like a novel (especially towards the end, when she describes what happened to some of her fellow inmates). Although I was interested in Susanna, her issues, and whether she'd get better, my favorite "character" was Lisa. She was fun to read about, although I feel bad for the people who had to put up with her antics.

Susanna? She attempted to commit suicide, although she claimed she only wanted to kill "part of" herself. If you're asking about Lisa, she was described as a "sociopath". That's the only thing resembling a reason as to why she was in the institution.

Funny I was just thinking about this book, I read it awhile ago and was thinking of giving it a reread. I had seen the movie prior to reading the book and liked the book more than expected too.

The movie was all right. I thought Angelina was good and as I read the book later I pictured Lisa as Jolie of course. I don't know if I would have done the same if I had read the book first but she did a pretty good job of it.
