The MST3K Thread

Maybe you guys can help me out. I remember one line from an episode of MST3K, but I can't remember the name of the episode. The movie was set in space, and there was some kind of disaster or emergency and there were some guys driving slowly around, looking panicked, in weird, funky little go-cart-ish things. And one of the robots said, "Warning... now reaching speeds of 3!"

Sound familiar to anyone? I know there's not much to go on... :eek:
 
Pod People is easily my favourite. I just love the 'chewy potatoes, soft potatoes...' bit where Trumpy is examining the animals in the cages of the overly effeminate boy's room. It also brought 'Hazaah!' into our vocabulary.

Mitchell's good too :D

I tend to like them all. The Skydivers is a Mike episode and has one of my fave lines: 'I think they forgot to have stuff happen in this movie!'. Kills me everytime I see it.

That one's great too. For the next few episodes of that season, they would at least once an episode say 'No Trumpy no!!!!'
 
That's awesome! There seemed to be a running gag in Pod People also. When someone was looking for a person, the theatre-goers (can't recall their names) would each say call out a name, like, "Billy? Maggie-Jean? Pluto? Chief? MacLeod!" What's with the 'Chief, MacLeod' bit? I assume it's from another episode?

I should note that I never saw this show when it was on tele, and instead first saw it about 3 years ago when my partner and I visited his friends in Montreal, and they had a few of the videos. We watched Mitchell, Pod People and one other, and the 'potato' thing and 'Hazaah!' became part of our vocabulary. Two weeks ago we were in my partner's home town for a visit and his friend with the tapes had moved back there, and I just had to borrow it! I've looked at ordering the tapes through Amazon but they're a little pricey.

I don't have a clue on that one. They have some pretty obscure references on that show, so we could never know.

Timechasers is another true stinker. I love the line in that one, "It takes a chin!"
 
I have seen the 2K, but I don't think I have seen the 3K version.


I don't think I have actually ever watched an entire episode. What I have seen, though, I have enjoyed.

They are like the annoying people who talk in the theater, but the movie sucks and they are actually pretty funny.
 
How are you guys still watching this show? I've heard about tape trading communities for MST3k. Has anybody tried it out?

LATEST NEWS -- August 31

FINAL VOLUME 8 EPISODES ANNOUNCED -- UPDATED
We are pleased to pass along the remaining two episodes that will appear in the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection: Volume 8 DVD set. In addition to the two prevously announced titles, episode 902- PHANTOM PLANET and episode 907- HOBGOBLINS, the set will also include (drumroll)...episode 421- MONSTER A-GO-GO (with short: CIRCUS ON ICE) and episode 603- THE DEAD TALK BACK (with short: THE SELLING WIZARD).

The set is tentatively scheduled to hit stores November 8th, and not September 20th as earlier reported.
