Anyone involved in this? Unfortunately, there isn't a group close to me. Pretty good write-up about the city of Lincoln and how the gathering went there.
I looked into this last summer. It looks like a lot of fun. What my librarians want is for me to start a reading group of some sort. The one book one community project is a a great way to get something like that started. It would take more than one person to get it off the ground though. Through interlibrary loan, I got a cd that has all the info for starting this program, including charts for organizing committees and figuring costs. It even contained images to print out for things like bookmarks and posters. I copied everything so I could get to it if I ever decide to get this going. The hard part would be deciding which book to use for my town. I have MY opinions, but a committee might have different ideas. Before I take on such a project, I would need my family's support, so this whole idea has been pushed to the back burner.
i saw this advertised and then I read the book (Nickel and Dimed by Barbara Ehrenrich - great book!) and then I didn't know what to do... the ad didn't say if/when some discussion would take place. oh well, at least I got something out of it.
