The Sopranos!!!!!!!

In my opinion its the best TV programme ever made.

Anyone agree of disagree? Also who's your favourite character apart from Tony? and what's your favourite episode?

My favourite has got to be Chris Moltisanti, what a temper! but Paulie's right up there. Hilarious! :D

My fave ever episode was Pine Barrens when Paulie and Chrissy are lost in the woods. :D

RFK,
I think The Sopranos is the best-written show on television. I didn't follow it when it was on, but watched it all in a year. The writers on that show are terrific. The actors are great too, but they couldn't do it without the script.

Why did you pick that moniker?

I have the DVD set of the first season, but haven't really seen it yet. I recently finished Carnivale, so I'll probably start Sopranos next (unless Desperate Housewives come here first).

Because Robert Kennedy is a hero of mine and I think his untimely death robbed the world of something great. I think the world would be a better place today if he had suvived to become president.

I don't watch a ton of TV, but I also really like the sopranos. My mom and my brothers started getting them on DVD so I watched them when they were done. The only season I've actually watched on HBO was the past one. There are other shows I like better, but I'm looking forward to seeing the Sopranos return. I'm sure it'll be another eight years before they come back on though. HBO loves to drag that shit out.

I agree.

Red Sox? I see you are from Masachussets. Boston I'm guessing?
What about the Celtics, are you a fan?

I support Celtic Football Club over here in Scotland. Soccer team as you'd say in the US.

I'm not from Boston although I've spent a lot of time there. I'm originally from a town called Swansea (yes, named after the one in Wales). It's in SE Mass and is about 10 minutes east of Providence RI. I currently live in Western Massachusetts, about 2 hours west of Boston. I'm a die hard Red Sox fan, and have been for my entire life. Even if the Celtics didn't suck, I wouldn't like them. I don't care for basketball. In my opinion, a sport with final scores like 96-95 isn't a sport, it's a coin toss. I also support the Bruins (if the NHL ever returns) and the New England Revolution (the local team in America's half assed version of a soccer league). I know soccer and football are the same, I've played soccer my whole life and was quite good at it in High School. I've actually considered just picking a team from your league to follow for fun.

the Scottish league is poor so if its just for fun i'd suggest picking a team from the English league and also there is the fact that the English Premiership is fairly readily available on one of the ESPN channels i think. My favourite team in England is Everton. Partly because of their Irish Catholic history in Liverpool being similar to myself and Celtic and partly because of a great experience spending the day with their fans in Liverpool when i travelled there to watch Celtic against them.

They are a sleeping giant and are a bit of an underdog compared with their city rivals Liverpool FC but after almost 20 years of underachieving they are finally very much on the rise again having qualified for the European Champions League for the 1st time since its revamp.

I didn't realize the Scottish had their own league. I thought the English one was for all of the UK. Interesting...

yep. theres 2 big teams in scotland, Celtic and Rangers and nobody else really stands a chance so its celtic or rangers every year who wins the championship.

England being 10 times the size of Scotland, they have a bigger number of big teams and the league is more competitive and they can attract the very best players.

Although, because of the Scottish and more significantly Irish people all over the world Celtic are one of the biggest clubs in the world and are bigger than most english teams as are Rangers.

Ahhh me Robert, I just popped on here in as you asked but sadly I have never seen the Sopranos , although so many people have told me I would love it. The reason for this was that when I lived in the UK I was working on the evening it went out, and sadly its not been on here in Italy in the 3 years that I've lived here. I'm hoping it might get shown at some point though, it comes so highly recommended. My current favourite is Criminal Intent.

I've never watched The Sopranos but I would still disagree with it being the best TV programme ever made.
And if you are going to follow a Scottish team then it has to be the 'Gers. ;)

I love this show, I've seen every episode. Tony Soprano is maybe the most compelling character ever created for TV. Although Al Swearengen of Deadwood is giving him a run for the money on that one. The last season was just spectacular and I can't wait till next March when the new season(and supposedly last) starts!

It's not. It's a good show, but I think there are better.

In all honesty, I didn't realize that you guys had your own league when I posted that. I highly doubt Scottish games would make it to American television. It's rare enough when american or english ones do. However, if I do decide to become a fan of Scottish football, I would probably go with the Rangers over the Celtics simply because I like the name better (I like to make arbitrary decisions like that).

you couldnt be blamed for picking rangers. nobody could. after all, they are the club with 132 years of unsurpassed dignity, eh stewart? ;) :)

I just read that the new season starting in March will be 12 episodes, to be followed by 8 more starting in January 2007.

I can't wait, I absolutely love this show. Though they're going to need more family members if they keep getting "whacked" or sent off to prison. :D Hopefully they'll keep this series going.
