Tins

Tins ^^ Alex Shearer? Anyone?

Hi. I'm Jadine by the way. I came on here to see if anyone has read this book. Tins, by Alex Shearer. If you have, please let me know. :D

It was really a fluke that i discovered it. I was milling around the school library and it fell on the floor, so i picked it up and read the blurb and now i'm totally addicted. I've had it since about 2:30 today and it's now 9:13 and i'm obsessed with it XD

Welcome!

I have not read Tins, but it looks like an interesting story. What other kinds of things do you enjoy reading?

Hrrmm. Well i love the hitchhiker's guide series. Genius ^^ Most science fiction. And disc world's pretty good. anything really, i pretty much just pick stuff up and read the blurb. if it's good, i carry on reading =]

what about you? ^^

Me? Well, I like a lot of different things. Some of my favorite modern authors are Alice Hoffman, Ian McEwan, Christpher Moore, Christopher Buckley and Carl Hiaasen. I also enjoy Alexandre Dumas, Thomas Hardy, Henry James and Jane Austin (although I have to admit to liking her movies better than her books sometimes). I do, on occasion read books for teens, mostly because I want to know whether or not they are worth buying and saving for my daughter (she's only one now, but I've been collecting kids' books for years now).

As far as books for teens go, I particularly enjoy Pat O'Shea, Patricia Wrede, Phillip Pullman, Carl Hiaasen (Hoot and Flush are for teens) and Tamora Pierce. Lastly, I read a LOT of picture books. My favorite is Midnight Moon by Clyde Watson, but I also love books by Jan Brett, Jimmy Buffett (yes...that Jimmy Buffett), Maurice Sendak, David Wiesner and of course all the Little Golden Books I read as a child.

These days I'm not reading a whole lot of awesome stuff though. I'm on a mission to reduce the books in the house by half. I have way too many, and they just keep showing up. Everytime I read one, two take its place. I think people like to give books to me because they know I'll read them and won't throw them away. Either way, I'm trying to power through all the chick lit, romance, mysteries and series books I as fast as possible so that I can get rid of them. I think I'm going to host a "Free Book Sale" later in the summer to get rid of everything. I do sneak in books I've been looking forward to whenever I get burned out on the junk, but mostly I'm doing well at sticking to the garbage.

Anyway, that was probably WAY more than you needed to know, but now you know it all!

oo ^^ okay ! Much longer than i expected. But that's good compared to the general lack of interest i'm used to XD

Thomas Hardy. I'm reading some of his poetry at the moment. Ever read the ruined maid? ^^

And i really do love Jane Austen. I've just finished Pride and Prejudice. It's pretty amazing. I like Homer as well, I'm half way through the Odyssey.
