Today is 'Bhut Chaturdashi', Hindu version of Halloween

Today is 'Bhut Chaturdashi', it is considered that the spirits or 'Bhut' come out today and they can make contact with the mortal world.

Today we decorate our home with lamps, candels because according to Hindu mythology spirits are afraid of fire.

This holiday sounds like a cousin of Halloween. Are they good spirits or bad spirits?

Those are mainly good spirits but sometimes evil spirits may also come with them.

Well, I hope lots of sweets were had by all. Ghosts are all well and good but without the sweets...not as much fun, I would think.
