twin peaks

this show is gold. the only real complaint I have (and it's not really a complaint) is that I wish david lynch would reveal a few of the show's secrets, as well as his creative sources. I watched the dvd commentaries, but no one went into it. there are theories out there about what symbols like the black lodge and white lodge represent, who "diane" is (agent cooper's secretary? alter ego? his name for his tape recorder?), the significance of the blue rose, where bob came from, where agent desmond disappeared to after he found laura palmer's ring in the film, whether "the arm"'s presence is signified by that electronic sound (the indian call played in reverse), and why the guy with one arm had "bob" tattooed on the one he lost. you're supposed to figure that out for yourself, I guess. but wouldn't it be nice to get just a glimpse of what master david was thinking ...

I love Twin Peaks! Totally amazing! Although, I found that the show went down hill a little at the end.

I have liked all his movies, he is a genius. :)

I don't think he likes to reaveal the meanings behind his stuff and prefers just to put it out there. I have never seen him comment on his work in that way. His most strange movie is Lost Highway. Everybody wanted to know what the hell it means but Lynch always refused and said you have to work it out for yourself.

quick question
never seen this show but had heard great things
what should i watch first the show or the movie?

Hmmmm hard to say. I think this is one of those questions where everybody will have a different opinion.

The tv shows came out first and so you can watch it find without seeing the movie. Really, there is nothing in the movie that you need to know to watch the show. If you can get to watch the show, you should give it a go :)

Watch the show first. I have the first series on DVD although I haven't seen the second series released yet. I think it's important to see the TV series first as the film, by popular demand, answers the question of who killed Laura Palmer, who Bob is, etc.

thx for the advise
on my videoclub the disc 1 from the series its always rented, but the movie its always avaible, so ill keep waiting to get a hold on that disc

my first post - i'm happy i found this forum

twin peaks was a great show
if you are planning on renting it i hope you know that the second season has not been released on dvd yet and who knows if it ever will (artisan screwed us over on this one)
so you will have to find it on vhs
my vhs tapes have been played so many times they are in sad shape

i dont know if this is on laser disc i never bought one of those

once you start watching the show you will be hooked

I was too young when this show was on TV to fully grasp the importance of it. I am so tempted to go out and buy the dvd.

Cheers

I'm home!

Yes, kids, what's the problem?

:D

p.s. My wife is a great fan. We sat thru about 6 hours of twin peaks once when we got it in VCD. Creeeepy. Killer soundtrack!!!

I missed the show the first time around (Though I did read Laura Palmer's diary when I was younger: my mother's terribly good at giving her children the wrong presents.), but my sister and I caught the reruns a couple of years ago. I know it would've been different if I'd watched it when it was first aired, but as it is, it wasn't "new" or "old" enough, and after the murder had been solved, I just couldn't bring myself to watching anymore. Maybe it's one of those things I'll have to try again in ten years or so.
