Who is the author?
I'm a high school teacher in Sweden who currently is teaching modern literature. I wonder if someone can help me to identify an author of a short story about a man who is out driving his car and stops at a road house to eat. When he drives away again, it turns out that a landslide has buried the road and kills those unfortunate enough to be there. I think the story ends with his decision to leave his old life and start a new, pretending that he died in the landslide. I'm quite sure it's one of the dirty realists who wrote it, but I can't find it. It should be Tobias Wolffe or Raymond Carver. Who wrote it and what is the title? Can someone help me? I need the text to prepare a literature list for my students.
