confusion is arised (?) from this aouthor, Marquis De Sade. I only watched a vcd, Quills, which is related to him. Nothing more.

From a website: http://neilschaeffer.com/sade/

"Sade adopts positions in the extreme. He intends to shock, but there was a gentle and idealistic side to him. You see where you stand when you read Sade. He puts the bottom to literature, the worst that could be written, the worst that could be imagined. It's good to know the enemy; knowing the bottom line of human nature is a very good sign of health at the end of this violent century.
--Sade biographer Neil Schaeffer,
in an interview with the NY Times"

The worst, the worst, the worst.... why the worst?????

Thanks for sharing your opinion.

Best regards, :)

The writings of the Marquis de Sade are about perversion. Justine features scenes of autoerotic asphyxiation which the person hanging themself describes the sexual gratification they receive.

His masterpiece The 120 Days of Sodom (a film version by Pier Paulo Pasolini was banned from 1975 until a couple of years ago in the UK) features paedophilia, coprophagia, torture, transvesticism, buggery, rape, and prostitution amongst its many perversions.

The only thing by De Sade I have read is "Dialogue entre un prêtre et un moribond" -- nothing perverted about that one. But I've been wanting to read more of his, only I never seem to be able to get into it.
