What books should I read this summer?

Are there any books that anyone reccomends that I read this summer? I'm going into my senior year of high school if that helps you any. Thanks!

Anything really. I just finished Animal Farm and On the Road, I thought those were both really good. But really, anything.
 
If you liked Animal Farm, then you could try 1984. Other than that, and because I'm the first one here and no one can stop me...

THE COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO!!

It's got everything you could possible want from a book. Love, betrayal, revenge, an island full of booty, wrongful imprisionment. It's a hefty book, but don't let that put you off. It's mostly dialogue and very easy to read.
 
I agree 1984, and Count of Monte Cristo. Also might want to look at Brave New World. And on a different Genre, An Army at Dawn, it was very good!
 
Worth to read 'The Bronze Horseman' by Paullina Simons. It's about a Russian lady fell over in love with American man in Russia during WW2.

Anything by Mercedes Lackey (If you like Fantasy)
 
Anything by Amy Tan. I especially recommend The Hundred Secret Senses.

The Dragonriders' Trilogy (Dragonflight, Dragonquest, and The White Dragon) by Anne McCaffrey also makes for excellent summer reading.

I'd suggest

Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury along the same line as 1984. The Stand - Stephen King which I thought was one of his best novels and The Rule of Four - Dustin Thomason, Ian Caldwell.

and if you enjoy those two then you should definatly try Brave New World (my personal favorite of the three).

"The Alchemist" by Paul Coelho is a nice summer read.

Good Call. I'd definatly agree with that one.
 
Depends on what you like. I would suggest staying away from the rule of four. Alchemist too unless you've already read Siddhartha. Speaking of which I guess there is a suggestion Siddhartha. Otherwise, Orwell seems like he would be to your liking. I don't know many books in that area, but if you are looking to branch out Litany is right on with Dumas and the Count of Monte Cristo, it has everything.

Also, if you are into King Arthur stuff the Once and Future King is a beautiful and entertaining summer read for ya, i would highly recommend it by T.H. White.

My personal suggestion would be to try out some Dostoyevsky, but like everyone here you're just going to get their favorites, or some bestseller.

Otherwise, it's pretty much up to your own tatses.....
 
I recommend Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa for summer reading. I'm about 1/3 of the way through it and am really enjoying it!
 
There'd also be absolutely nothing wrong with reading Kerouac's Desolation Angels and Big Sur. I've always thought that those three books captured the arc of his life.
 
THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is by far, and I mean by far as in a million time more, the best book I have ever read. Once it got to the end I was so upset because I just wanted to keep on reading for at least 2000 more pages. I've read a lot of really great books, but no other book has made me want it not to end like that. Don't see the movie before you read the book. I saw the movie first and it just makes the book not as good as it would be because you know what is going to happen. You said you're a senior in high school. I'm 22, and I read it two and a half years ago, so about your age now. READ IT FIRST OF ALL. ITS AMAZING.
