I'm bout to move to Hawaii for three months. I was wondering what you kids suggest I read while on the island. Thanks for the help.

*btw ... i like philosophically, artistically, socially, politically, or historically guided works. But, whatever's clever.

Be sure to wax.

My recommendation: Cryptonomicon by Neal Stephenson; the best book I've ever read, and quite a big 'un, too.

Cheers

Have you read these...Both fantastic!

'Blindness' by Jose Saramago

'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

Have a Great time

For local color, I enjoyed Hotel Honolulu by Paul Theroux. Was very funny, too.

Enjoy the Spam and poi! I think they grow strong pot over there just so they can work up enough appetite to eat the local cuisine. finest kine, haoli.

I might be one of the only people on the planet who doesn't like Hawaii, but there are reasons for that. I have interesting family there, on the big island. They've been there since the 1940s and would surely dispell any myth of paradise.

novella...

The Big Island. Sigh. I've spent some of the happiest days of my life at the Mauna Lani. And have met some of the nicest people!

You know Danny Akaka?

:)
