If you are a fan of the historical fiction genre, the Napoleonic wars or dragons, this series is for you!
I don't have anything bad to say about the series, though it obviously
departs from true historical facts where necessary. The books are well written with an intelligent and engaging storyline. The characters tend to be well developed without being bogged down in backstory and other flotsam and jetsam. The author also does a very good job of keeping with the politics of the time.
The story revolves around the adventures of Laurence and Temeraire as they fight a war of violence (mostly on the part of the Dragon.) And politics (mostly his captain Laurence.) Other characters are introduced as the plot moves forward and Temeraire grows up.
The story had me laughing often at the innocent hilarity of a dragon coming of age, and (yeah I'll admit it) crying when disaster strikes. All together this is a must read for any fans of the genre, or Dragons.
