Hey-I love the short story link and discussion. That is a great way to participate and to read some things that won't "take away" from what other books people are enjoying. Plus, Willa Cather is a native of the greatest state in the union.
I saw the first Harold and Kumar film. I loved the parts where they're singing along to Wilson Phillips and the dream sequence where one of them marries the giant bag of weed. The rest of the film was only okay . Which one did you like better?
I like independent/offbeat comedies. I used to watch foreign films all the time; my favorites were Johnny Stecchino and Brotherhood of the Wolf. What about you?
Y'know . . . I'm not sure. I personally think she was just a lonely and clingy old woman, but I could see how people would think Dench's character was attracted to Blanchett's character. For all I know, both your suggestions are probably correct .
Are you going with Speak, Memory for November BOTM? Whenever you do get around to reading it I would like to hear about anything in the book as it relates to chess.
I'm thinkig Dan is going to win the whole thing tonight. Memphis is a big lunk who just coasted with Dan's brains. It's a shame Jerry or Reny didn't get it.
