I think you might like The Confession of Brother Blaise by Jane Yolen and both stories that I read by Egan and Chiang were great. Oceanic is available free online.

Aw, thanks! I'm glad you like them! I am never sure whether people read them or not, but I enjoy doing them.

Yes, been making my way through a few lately. I haven't been much of a fantasy reader since I was in high school, but a lot of my friends love George R R Martin, so I started his series and read A Game of Thrones. Probably the fastest 800 pages I've ever read. Very good stuff, but mostly for-the-senses type of style. Very fast-paced with action and twists and turns, backstabbings and whatnot. You don't really "learn" anything, but it's compulsory to say the least. I hear they're making his books into an HBO series, so that should be cool.

Yes, I read the prequel Garden of Shadows as well. It was interesting. At the moment I'm reading My Sweet Audrina by VA, which has been okay so far. I have the Casteel series as well, so I'm hoping they're not too similar to Flowers.

Makes me terribly fat, kept me awake last night and it's a boy.

Hello. You might not remember me (I forgot this place existed for a while!), but you said to tell you what I thought of the Dollanganger series by Virginia Andrews once I'd finished reading it. Well, I loved it, and I cried. Despite some of the disturbing characters and plots (I guess that's Virginia's specialty, though) I thought the series was very touching.

What did you think?

Oh, and I absolutely adored Chris and Cathy, even if they were brother and sister.

No, I never did. There's a copy in my local store. But if I do get it, I'll no doubt order in the nicer Canadian version.

The washing machine needed a drain pump, or something like that..they had to order the part. Told me it would be this week before it could get here. THEN they called me 20 minutes before I was to walk out the door for an eye appointment Friday. I think I made the receptionist mad, so now I'm waiting for her to call to tell me the guy is on his way. I have two girls to take to swim team practice at noon. They can just be dropped off for that hour, but I hate waiting and wondering...
