Beer Butt Chicken basics Keep in mind, this is just a tip of the iceberg...there are literally gazillions of variations of the theme. Do a google search..the first page will keep you busy for a good while. We cooked three chickens last night, one on the charcoal grill, and two in the oven. We're grilling novices, so the oven birds turned out a little better...the one outside wasn't done like I thought when I tried to slice it. I stuck it in the oven for another 45 minutes and it was fine. Good stuff!
Oh, that was a break time..made Beer-Butt Chicken, had to check it periodically. I slept like a rock too. No middle of the night insomnia for me...I'm happy!

Yes..hamburgers, hot dogs, steaks, etc..Darling daughter Katie volunteered to get the cake. Darling Son Ben agreed to help with the grill work..need to talk to the darling son inlaw about helping there...I think it could all work out just fine.
I'm thinking of a cookout..since there might be such a large crowd.
Yes and no..this could go either way. He's always worried about how clean the house looks for company..I'll have to think this through carefully.

You know Mr ABC???? He's already been asking questions. I jumped up last night and said, "Oh yeah!" and ran out to confer with one of the kids about the guest list..he wanted to know what 'that' was about. ;0)
I can't decide whether to try to keep it a surprise, or to let him know so he's not caught unawares...with this many co-conspirators, it might be impossible anyway.
I have lots of time to plan..birthday isn't til August 18..I'm just glad I thought to start planning NOW instead of two days before!
Colds are ALWAYS bad! Who ever heard of a Good Cold?!? Not me. Glad you're on the mend though. I'm trying to plan food for the next week or so, while also planning a birthday bash for my husband. If I invite everone I have in mind, we're looking at potentially 32 people. Gulp!

I would have guessed that the temp in hell would be not a few degrees cooler, but that will work, too.
