If you're looking for medical thriller, you must check out Robin Cook. He's a pioneer of the genre and has more than a dozen books about all things medically related, including a nonfiction-esque "The Year of the Intern" which details what a medical student would expect (in great, daunting...
How about "The Tommyknockers"? Just picked it up... I've seen mixed reviews of the story, so I thought I'd ask.
Definitely a fan of Duma, and that novel saved King for me.
Dean Koontz and Stephen King are probably my top two currently. (Duma Key saved King for me... and I've since then picked up a couple others, but we'll see how it goes).

I just picked up the first, Outlander, after a daily journey to BN and seeing what I guess is the 5th (?) new out in paperback. Now I really look forward to reading it!
So, the series is as good as the 9,000,000 pages it'll take to cascade through it? :)
I loved the exploration of a religion that Brown gave us in the Da Vinci Code. The fact that he uprooted the "biggest secret" known to man is something that really made the book a fun one to read, regardless of his writing style.
I have attempted all 4 of his novels, succeeding with only 3. The Da Vinci Code was a great read, same with Angels and Demons, and I actually enjoyed Digital Fortress quite a bit. Deception Point, however, was akin to staring deeply at an abstract painting to find a meaning, only to end up with...
I'm pretty sure the huge success of that latest Potter wasn't due to the quality of the book (exactly HOW many were pre-ordered?!), but for the simple fact that, well, it's Harry Potter. Millions have grown up with Harry.
As for Da Vinci, if not for the fact that the book challenged the...
