I'm not going to start trying to explain all this here. :p
It's not the loan, it is the graduate charge. In Scotland we apply to SAAS who pay for tuition fees for every Scottish student studying in Scotland, and on top of that we can recieve a bursary and a loan (partly for living costs)...
I don't think we want them... They're probably worse than us in terms of economy.
But not all do. Have you never heard of student debt either? In England and Wales the fee is about £3000 a year, which I think is insane because it deters people from poorer families from entering into...
Because you expect more of Scottish independence, or because you love Eurovision?
Well, that is an issue..
I'm sorry, you'll never be free of Wales. ;)
I'm liking the newest news here. Scrapping graduate charges! Sure, SNP are trying to appeal to students in a grab for...
So the only way a family can be stable is if there is a married couple at the head of it? I completely disagree. My parents divorced when I was young and my life become a lot more stable than it had been. My brother and I grew up without a father and we have probably turned out more well-rounded...
Anyone for Iain Banks? :D
For authors with a large selection of books should there be a limit to the books discussed? It might get a bit too muddled with confused spoilers otherwise and people who haven't read all of the authors work may be confused and annoyed that they can't read the thread...
My summer started a week ago with a trip to Germany. :p
The next three months are my personal summer. I plan to: read books (including the 13 for uni); pack everything up and move house, unpack, and pack for uni; watch the rest of Sailor Moon (about 140 episodes left and a couple of films)...
I think this is similar to the votes for women debate in the early 1900s. Clearly it is unfair and an outdated idea of inequality that more conservative minded people are clinging to in an effort to stop it, but I believe gay marriage will continute to make progress until it is part of the norm...
(I'm not sure why I'm posting this now, as I'm leaving on holiday tomorrow... but what the heck, I'll just have to get back to you if anyone replies. I hope this is ok for the Mature section.)
As many people will know (or not), the Scottish election in 2007 resulted in the SNP winning the...
But... but... but... the books... burning... the books...
There are so many things he could have done with those books. Adverts for free books? Take them to a jumble sale? Bookcrossing? Homeless shelters? Care homes? Hand them to people? Sell them on Ebay? Give them to us?! Burning them is...
I mainly like history and biography mixed together (and separately) and I buy the odd cookbook, drawing guide, craft book, puzzle book and other things every now and then. The majority of my non-fiction reading has been the first two though (partly thanks to a lot of Horrible Hisitory books over...
According to my Listal account I currently want 319 books. Out of that I haven't read 299 of those. Bear in mind that includes manga and comic books, but it doesn't include my reading list for uni next year which I still need to send away for. ;)
My current "most wanted" books list includes...
I was able to pick up the pace reading-wise this month, which is surprising because of all the studying/work I've had to do over the last few weeks. :p
Full books started and finished:
The Binding Chair - Kathryn Harrison 7/10
Good Bones - Margaret Atwood 5/10
Shanghai Baby - Zhou Wei...
You might find Witch Child by Celia Rees interesting. It has been a while since I read it, so I can't really say much about the storyline, but I really enjoyed it.
Thats why you should email things to yourself. That way the attachment is always there either in you sent or out box. Yahoo! mail is my prefered mail because of the sheer amount of amount of free space you're given and they don't delete old stuff.
I usually stick a post-it note in if I'm too involved with reading it, but I will generally write a few bits down every now and then between reading. I'm trying to get practice writing reviews on Listal so I like to take notes as I go to talk about later, but I never really get round to it and...
Ahh ok, I was confused by the title. I finished my Biology project thing last week, which was like a scaled down one slightly... But I expect that that is very different. ;)
Anyway, good luck!
