    TBR Number?

According to my Good Reads page, I have 88 unread books. Of those, I'm realistically going to get to about 24 of them which is 2 a month. When I finish the book I'm reading now, that will make 4 for the year. So here's 20 that I should read this year: Leviathan - Paul Auster Moon Palace -...

    Paul Auster

I've read The Brooklyn Follies, In the Country of Last Things and The Book of Illusions and I'm totally sold on Auster. What a fantastic writer. I can't wait to get to all of his other books.

February 2010: Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones

Sorry, I missed this.:) I'd like to see the movie, because in the visual form of a movie, much of what I complained about is easily fixed when you can actually see what's happening. In fact, the book could make for a pretty good movie script.

February 2010: Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones

My main gripe is with the way the story is written, the actual prose, not the story itself as much. Granted, I don't think the story is all that great anyway, but if you can make the characters come alive with vivid detail and memorable personalities, then it makes up for a mediocre story...

    Recently Finished

It's just... I can't even describe it. It's the most nonsensical story with the most developed characters I've ever read. Why he would have spent so much time thinking up characters for such a hollow story is baffling to me. Also, I'm not sure how his other books are, but the characters in...

I sort of railed on it in this thread: http://www.bookandreader.com/forums/f7/jonathan-lethem-5096-2.html But it was Chronic City, which is his newest one I think. I own Motherless Brooklyn and plan on reading it at some point, but this book was completely pointless. Almost seems like the...

You had never read those before? Great series!! Once you finish the Chronicles, read the Legends trilogy. It follows Raistlin and Caramon even further.

February 2010: Alice Sebold: The Lovely Bones

Caution - read no further if you haven't finished the book Just finished it. This book had a lot of promise, but failed to deliver in most aspects. The style of writing itself is very bland. There were hardly any really great metaphors to make the scene or a character's actions jump off...

    2010 Oscars

Even so, The Academy has never been shy about nominating people for roles in movies that were released in very limited means, sometimes very underground movies. For instance, Richard Jenkins nominated for Best Actor in The Visitor a few years ago.
