I once read the first book of "The Sleeping Beauty" trilogy, and found it incredibly hot. I'd searched for it at libraries since, unaware that it wasn't published under Rice's name. I've just ordered all three from the library.
I'm currently reading Lolita and finding it rather erotic as...
it was gorgeous here today. the sky was blue, the clouds were white and the trees were GREEN! And I speant it...on the couch, curled up under a blanket shivering, watching Friends Season 2 on DVD and reading Lolita. We went out for a bit to go to the library (to prevent me going crazy) and...
I prefer to lend books, it enables me to match the book to the person. I have books that I have literally leant to like 20 people, making it clear that I want them back. I can't imagine releasing my books. They're like my children!
So I think everyone has "their" bookstore, the one that they will always remember. I'll tell you about mine!
Cafe Books, downtown Canmore Alberta. I bought a TON of books when I lived in Canmore, simply because the library sucked. This store had the BEST vibe, and I loved it dearly...
I too tend to alternate. I'm married to a wonderful woman who's only flaw seems to be that she tries to talk to me while I'm reading. Therefore, I tend so read a little more "shallowly" when she's around, and adjust what I read accordingly, when she's doing something else however, I do find...
it may not be very literary, but i LOVED The Da Vinci Code, my wife and I read very very very different books, and this was a book that we both enjoyed immensely. We bought the Illustrated Edition, and then bought the Ill Ed of Angels and Demons too. Though, reading Angel and Demons, you could...
my typing test gave me a reading of 86, with an adjusted of 81. I'm probably faster with numbers, because I type phone numbers like 60 times a day at work.
I wouldn't be able to read without the library. I don't even have money in my budget to buy a cup of coffee on a sunday morning before I do my groceries. I NEED libraries.
I had the distinct pleasure of getting Wicked tickets for my birthday this spring, and saw the musical in Toronto March 10th. I cried it was so beautiful. I haven't read Mirror Mirror or Confessions, though they are on my TBR list. I need to reread wicked actually, my aunt has my copy! and...
my favourite coffee is Kicking Horse's Three Sisters Blend. It's an organic, fair trade, shade grown coffee with a picture of The Three Sisters on the package. The picture was the original reason I bought it, as I used to live in Canmore Alberta, where the three sisters (three mountains) are...
yeah. I figure I've been trying to read her for ten years always, and I've still got a lot of time left to go. I haven't tried for a couple years, maybe I"ll pick up one and give it a whirl now, and if that doens't work, I'll wait another five years or so.
thanks for the welcome guys. Oh course I stayed up far to late reading this bloody thing and am extremely tired this morning, but I already love it here! Oh to Tim's, because that's the only way I'll make it through today. MMMMMM....coffee.
I don't speak any language but english, though my SO, a montrealer, has been lining children's books in French with me outloud. However, I do read Neruda in spanish first, always, because lyrically it is SO beautiful. I've actually started to be able to understand a little bit too.
The most beautiful book a own is a hardcover copy of The Passion Dream Book by....can't remember. She also wrote How To Make an American Quilt. Whitney Auto. It's gorgeous and I love it!
If I book has been made into a film, I will NOT buy a book with a new "film cover" my copy of Ya Ya...
