Kamala Markandaya: Nectar In A Sieve

Hmm this was fiction right? It may have been an autobiography but I'm fairly sure it was a fiction? Oh---This post contains spoilers :) Anyway, I thought this was an amazing book. I loved the language she used and the way it was written. For example, an excerpt from a passage earlier on in...

John Steinbeck: Of Mice and Men

Wow ok so this thread is really old but I just read the book and I figured it would probably be better than making a whole new thread, eh? Blah blah blah....this post contains spoiler information that might ruin the book Of Mice and Men if you haven't read it yet. ;) I...

The Return Of The King **Spoilers**

AUGH! Eowyn with Aragorn? no! hehe...They might not have really focused much on Arwen in the movies, but she and Aragorn had such a connection...Liv Tyler is an amazing actress, and I think she did a good job, even though her character might not have been developed as well as the others.

    Hardback or paperback?

I definitely prefer a good ol' hardback. I'm surprised that paperbacks are so popular, actually.

The Return Of The King **Spoilers**

AH! Arwen was one of my favorite characters!!! She added so much to the movie. I would be dissapointed in the movies if they excluded her!

    Poetry?

Augh thats embarrasing!:( That's it. I'm never writing again...And the question about the whole girl thing and how you asked if I dropped the one girl for the other girl, the answer is...no! heh...The top one is really the one I identify with. The bottom one is just fiction. Thanks for your...

    Favorite Quotes

Here are some of my favorite quotes: What did they ever think of us transitory ones? Ones such as I...birds of passage who were too obscure for learned classification, too silent for the most sensitive recorders of sound; of natures too ambiguous for the most ambiguous words, and too...

    The Spellsong Cycle

I've seen reviews on Modesitt and everyone talks about his bad female characters. I guess I never noticed, not being a female myself. lol..but I read alot of bad reviews on the series after googling it, to see what other people thought. Both series that yall suggested sound interesting. I'll...

Anyone ever read "The Spellsong Cycle" (it's a series of four books) by LE Modesitt Jr. ? I found them interesting. Never heard the concept of music=magic. I enjoyed them at least...I read all four!

    Harper Lee

Well that's just sad. Hey, you never know! Maybe she'll surprise us and publish another novel before she dies! lol, fat chance. Well not to say that I look forward to her death because I don't, but it will be interesting to hear what the reporters will dig up about her.

    Harper Lee

I've always thought it a shame that "To Kill a Mockingbird" was the only book that she wrote. I loved the book, and plan to read it again soon! I thought that Atticus was such an amazing father figure and almost Christlike in a sense, and her usage of a naive narrator was definitely a great way...

    Hey from VA

It's a great book. I haven't read any of her other books, but if they are all as good as that one then she is a genius! lol...the end surprised me. I think you'll enjoy it when you finally decide to read it. :D
