753C - I have finished The Narrow Road to the Deep North and must say that I found parts of it a harrowing journey. If you want to share your thoughts on the book I'd be glad to read your take on it. I still have so much rolling around in my head that I'll have to ponder some more as to what I...
Went to a book discussion meeting and waxed eloquent about the book I had just read, unfortunately it was the book for the next meeting not the current one. Thought everyone was blown away by my grasp of the subject matter when they were just stunned. Dumb and embarrassing.

Hello again 753C - have started in again on the book and am about a third of the way through. Very diverse between the horror of the jungle and the building of the railroad and the obsessive love of Amy and Dorrigo. Really quite amazing writing. Will post further when finished, right now bed...
Hello 753C, will have to revive it, had put it aside but will get back to it - just give me a day or so and I'll get back to you. Delighted that you are interested.

Lazy Boy armchair by the living room window, comfy and lots of light, can also watch the birds at the feeder.
Do you ever burn the midnight oil with a book that's just too good to put down even knowing you'll feel a wreck the next morning?
We like lunch rather than dinner and so usually combine breakfast and lunch at a franchise called Cora's, soups, omelettes, salads available, we're past the age of romantic dining.
Do you have a favourite place to settle down with a good book?
I see The Narrow Road to the Deep North was suggested back aways, it's a good suggestion and I believe it is also a harrowing read, besides I already have it on Kindle which would be my reason for reviving the post.
One of my favourites is Linwood Barclay, but there are so many more. I mostly read thrillers and mysteries and there are a lot of good authors. Also have been reading some of Phillip Margolin's books, good legal suspense and I like that.
At home - and as I don't know where else to post this I just dropped by to see if any of the former forum members were still happily posting and I see that there are still some familiar names but some are missing. So hello to all that are still here.
Do you prefer family style restaurants or...
I don't think you are missing anything, it's a case of taking the case of surveillance and adding on a lot of other stuff that hasn't happened. I find all the reams of quotations garnered from different sources are just tiresome and a way for some people to continue to lecture to those who...
