    Boston Marathon attack

It does sound grim that this may be a new normal. It also is frightening to think that it may well be a homegrown terrorist - not only having to fear foreign plots but fearful of people living here already. There's already the mass shootings and no particular plans being put in place to try to...

    Recently Finished

A long time since I read "Tess" - should go back and have another read at it. Remember thinking how good it was but the details now escape me.

Inscrutable post Sparkchaser - must be code. Answer to the dusting query, I keep Swiffer dusters around and use them as the mood hits (occasionally), however, I have a friendly cleaning person who does a thorough job every three weeks and I manage now to smother my guilt. Just have...

What crime/horror/thriller/mystery books have you read and found appealing?

Certainly agree about Foyle's War - I believe they are going to resurrect the series and have Foyle attached to Mi5. Don't know when it will air but I would guess it will be shown in the UK first before it makes its way across the pond.

They certainly should abec, but it doesn't seem to happen that way - there are always monsters around. :(

    Boston Marathon attack

Was asking a friend of mine who is running this coming weekend in the London marathon whether he thought it would be cancelled. He didn't think it would be but security would be tightened. I would think that a lot of the spectators may think twice about turning out to watch. I just hope they...

    Boston Marathon attack

This is a really horrific event and the possibility of catching the perpetrators seems almost impossible with so many of the spectators wandering around with backpacks. It seems incredible that after 9/11 people are still taken by surprise that a terrorist event can and does happen. I wonder...

    Which e-reader do you own?

I am quite happy with my Kindle and don't have a problem in dealing with only Amazon and I find it great that I can have the book I want within minutes of buying it. If I wanted older books, and that is rarely, I can get them at the library in print. Sometimes it's kind of a nice break to read...

I can't think of any other place than where we are now that I'd want to stay. I really like my home, it's nothing spectacular but I find it cozy and familiar and I'm happy here. I love the sound of the places mentioned above, especially the ocean, maybe if I was many years younger my answer...

Reading book itself vs Reading book summary

Hi Robert: Have you never bought a book and when you get around to reading it you find you don't really care for it? Or do you get a book that someone has recommended and have a fair idea that it's something you might like? I always want some idea of the genre or the plot if it's an author I...

    Random Question..Keep posting

I like salt on my porridge (oatmeal) but the reason I asked is that I have been to restaurants and seen people have their meal put down for them and they've grabbed the salt shaker and salted liberally before they've even taken one bite. I thought it was a bit curious. I don't use much salt...

Lovecraftian, pardon me for saying, but your Avatar is kinda creepy - I guess you're into this zombie/vampire type thing? Maybe the red licorice is responsible for the red teeth? Anyway, I like black licorice but understand it's bad for folks with high blood pressure so don't eat it and I...

Reading book itself vs Reading book summary

I like to look at the outline in the dust cover to see if the plot line is something that would interest me - it's certainly not a summary but it gives a little bit of information about the book without spilling the beans.

What is your all time favourite Crime, Mystery or Thriller?

Eye of the Needle was a great movie, lots of suspense. Donald Sutherland does suspense really well. The last scene had me on the edge of my chair.
