There are some books that, while reading, I can visualize so well that I sometimes find myself wondering later if I have, in fact, seen the movie. A couple examples for me are the Harry Potter series and Cassandra Clare's Mortal Instruments series. I felt like I'd SEEN them when the movies...

I haven't yet read The Kite Runner, but I really enjoyed Hossani's other book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and would definitely recommend that.

Fabulous ending, DATo! I enjoyed book three as well, I just felt like the end was so very rushed. She threw everything quickly into that epilogue and it didn't feel like a very satisfying end that way.
