Recommendation for a book about relationships/family?

Hello all-thanks for reading:

I'm in the mood for a great dramatic read...something emotive, that involves various types of relationships and maybe family life?

I know that's a little vague but maybe something along the lines of The Prince of Tides or The Kite Runner?
I just want a great, well-written story, with multiple characters and relationships, that will make me think/appreciate the subject matter and really "feel" the story (wouldn't mind a good cry too!).
Pat Conroy elicits this response with me with nearly all of his books...

I haven't yet read The Kite Runner, but I really enjoyed Hossani's other book, A Thousand Splendid Suns, and would definitely recommend that.
