    Native American Historical Books

Zeke and Ned by Larry McMurtry (Lonesome Dove) is a very good novel centered around the relationship between two Native Americans. I really enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it.

    John Updike: The Rabbit Novels

Thanks Shade and Nomad. Really appreciate and value your imput. Seems like a big task to undertake if I'm not reasonably sure I'll enjoy it. Sounds like it will be a go for me sometime around November. Aqua I'll let you know when I get started. Thanks again guys!

    Vladimir Nabokov: Lolita

I'm actually a very light blonde. I do have long hair but no braid. I haven't seen the film(s) but if I remember right Jeremy Irons plays HH in one yes? He is a fine actor. I watch a lot more films in the winter when it's chilly out so I'll put it on my TBW list (to be watched).:D

    John Updike: The Rabbit Novels

I promise I search BAR for a thread but if it's here I missed it. Has anyone read part or all of this series and what was your impression? I've been toying with the idea of tackling the complete set this winter and was interested to see if anyone here has an opinion, good or bad...

    Natsuo Kirino: Out

Netherband: Thanks for that insight. I really had very little knowledge about Japanese socio-economic class issues; which I now take to be fairly stringent and somewhat oppressive. This book was very eye opening as well as darkly entertaining.

Good novels you recommend that were published in the last 5-10 years

Saturday was very good. It's written in real time. So basically you read it at a similar pace that it occurs. The entire story takes place in one, you guessed it, Saturday. The writing is lovely and the characters are easy to empathize with. The descriptions are beautiful and immersive...

Asparagus (but I LOVE so many vegetables). If you found a wallet with $10,000 in it would you turn it in? $100,000?

Your eBay watch / bought list

I agree it's part of the fun to try and outwit the other bidders and sometimes lose. A lot of the time the same items will come up again in a few days or so and you'll get a second chance. I guess of course if it was a one of a kind and something you just couldn't live without... maybe.

    Stickies

Wicked, evil, horrible person you are....:D :D :D I was thinking more about the 36 year old guy that works at Blockbuster, still has acne and lives at home over the garage. Oh yeah and he can recite the words to Blade Runner verbatum.

    Lovely and abandoned words

If you are interested in words... I get a daily email from Word-A-Day. Each week has a theme ; long words, phobias, french roots, or whatever. They profile a single word each day. I really enjoy it and there is no spam. The service is also free. My two favorites I've picked up are...
