Richard Newcomb - words can't even begin to describe how terrible he is. I know a lot of you will not imagine how bad when you read this , but it scares and disgusts me that he actually got published.
Robert Jorden - Didn't really like the first books, then they got worse...
David Eddings...
Try The Scar SillyWabbit, it's much better. One of my favs of all time and I though pretty much the same way about you concerning Perdido Street Station.
Arthur Clake's Space Odessy series is essential.
Also Revelation Space and its sequels by Alastair Reynolds.
Dune by Frank Herbert.
The Lord of Light by Roger Zelazny.
hesitantly raises his hand to indicate he's part of the modern anti-tolkien crowd. Jack Williamson is pre-tolkien as well, an excellent novel. I'm loving every second of it.
The Mists of Avalon is my personal Arthurian novel, simple a classic.
Currently reading Darker Than You Think by Jack Willaimson, very enjoyable so far, with an absolutely perfect villainette.
Finished Kushiel's Chosen - a massive improvement on the first book, this really is an excellent novel - 8/10
Across the Nightengale Floor - 5/10
Not really my cup of tea.
Tell me, did you wish there was more action in Robin Hobb's Farseer books?
If yes, they could get a bit boring at times:The Empire Trilogy by Raymond Fiest and Janny Wurts
If no: Juliet Marillier's the Sevenwaters Trilogy.
The Chronicles of Amber - Roger Zelazny
There are to series both of five short books. I recommend that you don't read the second series as it really didn't seem to have a point. It seems to be leading up to an amazing third series, but nothing ever materialized.
So far this month:
The Portrait of Mrs Charuque, Jeffrey Ford - a fantastic read, excellently written 10/10
Veniss Underground, Jack Vandermeer - not everyone's cup of tea, I loved the style 9/10
To Green Angel Tower: Storm, Tad Williams - as long winded as ever but still an enjoyable...
If you have read my comments on Edding, take exactly the same thing, only add sexism and needless violence to the list of flaws. Sorry, just my opinion.
