I'm late to the discussion and only about half way through the story. I am definitely enjoying it so far. The biggest impression I get is that reading Chandler is sort of like discovering the fossilized beginnings of the hard boiled genre (in a good way). You can see Chandler's influence in most...
Broke down and bought a kindle after playing with a co-workers for a while. I did not think I would love it so much. I was sort of against e-readers and kind of determined to stay with paper, but............ I really don't think I will buy a hardcover ever again. And I find I am reading more...
I saw this last weekend and liked it a lot. Very dark and fast paced. I never read the book but I got the feeling they were trying to cram about 4 hours worth of story into about 2 hrs and 40 minutes, which made it a little challenging for me to follow. Had trouble keeping the family members...
It is supposed to be haunted. It is a huge mansion that was built by the heiress to the Remington Firearms fortune. I guess she was a nutcase and thought that all the spirits of the people killed by her families products were following her around. She had stairs built in the house that lead to...
I haven't had any personal experiences, but don't rule out the possibility. I don't go in much for supernatural stuff becasue it sort of scares the crap out of me, but........ I am going to be in the Bay Area soon, and since it is October, I think I might tour the Remington house. I heard that...
Unforgiven (one of my favorite movies of any Genre), Once Upon a Time in the West, Outlaw Josey Wales, Magnificent Seven, Good Bad and the Ugly, Pale Rider, and have to add in the new True Grit.
Pretty good modern westerns : Open Range, Apaloosa, 3:10 to Yuma.
Hmmmm Okay. That makes sense. I suppose if it proves valid they wouldn't have much choice anyway. It just sounded sort of un-scientific in the way that it reads, but journalists don't always represent things in the correct light.
I am interested to see what happens with this. I don't have much...
Thanks for the post BG. Intersting article. It is sort of nice to read author interviews that don't feel canned or scripted. The more rambling the better in my opinion.
Don't quite follow the evolutionary conclusions drawn by Chris.
But on a serious note can someone explain to me this paragraph? :
Friday's meeting was designed to begin this process, with hopes that other scientists will find inconsistencies in the measurements and, hopefully, repeat the...
I liked Amsterdam too, Will. McEwan does a nice job of building suspense and injecting humor into most stories. I think he probably deserves most of the critical praise he gets.
True dat. Even as a kid I thought those two were whack.
Marvel Weekend.
X Men First Class and Thor :stars3: 1/2
Both were pretty entertaining. Better than the rest of the crap Marvel has been spewing out.
Stone ????
Not sure what to say about it. I was engrossed, so that is probably...
