faster than light

So there is something that is faster than light ............... well maybe we did not all evolve from apes. :whistling:

Don't quite follow the evolutionary conclusions drawn by Chris.
But on a serious note can someone explain to me this paragraph? :

Friday's meeting was designed to begin this process, with hopes that other scientists will find inconsistencies in the measurements and, hopefully, repeat the experiment elsewhere.

Why do they set off hoping to find inconsistencies?

Let's see...

There may be a level of physics we don't understand = the theory of evolution is debunked = Brawndo has electrolytes.

Got it.

Because if their data is valid they have to start re-thinking pretty much everything we thought we knew about the laws governing the physical.

It is a great thing to get unexpected results that tear down the known and force us in new directions, and in fact the method lives for it, but it is also very disruptive and needs to be challenged with vigor.

The eggheads don't want to start over, but if in the end the new information proves valid rest assured that they will.

Hmmmm Okay. That makes sense. I suppose if it proves valid they wouldn't have much choice anyway. It just sounded sort of un-scientific in the way that it reads, but journalists don't always represent things in the correct light.
I am interested to see what happens with this. I don't have much understanding of physics, but it seems like an exciting possibility, even to me. It seems like the more we learn about the universe the more it becomes apparent how little we actually know.
