Oh, I've actually heard of the first one on your list...never read it.
2. Had to read in high school...it was fine
3. never read
4. read excerpts was bored nearly to tears - but that could be a symptom of reading in 9th grade
5. I think I heard one of these on CD.
Welcome. BAR is strangely...
Sorry, can't help ya with the German, but welcome anyway.
I'm not a huge fan of anything that can be classified as literature,... guess I'm more about the inconsequential fluff reads :-P
YA is an awesome genre though.
Hey radioactive,
Welcome to BAR. That always sounds odd like we should be imbibing or something.
Anyway, happy to hear you love fantasy. I can't get into most fantasy, but some is all right. YA mostly.
Hi Zaradrak,
I tend to avoid nonfiction books like they're a plague...but I have read most of the stuff on your favorite works list. I didn't care all that much for the LOTR books, but I think that's 'cause I saw the movies first...that made the books slow.
I have a bunch of Nancy Drew files I bought off ebay and haven't gotten around to reading. I need to find the list with the #'s I've already read.
I've never heard of Enid Blyton. Where do you store all your books?
Do you read comic books?
I remember liking a lot of the casefiles, but I...
What meadow said. Most writers I know read a lot... like constantly.
Lee Child's all right...it's kinda the mindless "things blow up; (Reacher breaks peoples)' bones" sort of entertainment.
I am listening to The Whole Truth by Baldacci right now. It's decent so far. Poor Shaw.
There was a...
Ha, what, did you buy an ebay lot? That list has more completion than my collection. Good list. I probably own about 200 if you count all series and both Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys books. Classics ;-P
Do you plan to read them all or just collect?
The ask you to pay for postage? Strange. That could get expensive.
Go for it. As long as you take the time to outline what you're seriously after (YA, romance, sci-fi, etc) people are generally decent enough to read that and send w/in those guidelines.
Cool. Which Hardy Boys books did you get? Hard cover, casefiles, supermysteries? Modern? (Which I personally believe took a giant step backward in quality.
Meadow made me do it.
I find myself repeating a lot of suggestions, so I might as well throw 'em all in one thread so I don't accidentally put it on a 2002 thread :-P
This will mainly be YA but also include adult books that are YA safe.
YA fantasy - Cry of the Icemark by Stuart Hill
YA fantasy...
I know a decent illustrator if you want to pm me.
Legos are great...they keep their value very well. I'm still sad that I sold off some of the sets I had as a kid though.
How is the book thief? I never heard of it before seeing that there was a movie of it. Didn't get around to seeing the movie either, though I think it'll be on the netflix list
Harry Potter blu ray collection; LOTR extended collection
Lego Helm's Deep....that's about it for the black friday online shopping...however, I did get some nice deals at Kohl's on various Christmas gifts.
