My hubby has been wanting to get me one for years now but I've held out due to my fear of gadgets. I do have an app on my IPhone and keep a few on there encase of emergencies but it is problably time to give a real e-reader a shot :)
I have never met another :) and forget about getting a souvenir mug with my name on it
When I was young I hated having an unusual name but now that I am more comfy with myself I like it.
Ronny is a real life nickname, it is what everyone called me growing up & at school, but now that I am older I started using Maude (a shortened version of my first name, which is Maudaevee) at work and around other places. Now I feel it is confusing because I have 3 different names People call...
No specific forum, I have seen a few oranges bouncing around but you are the only banana I have came across.
It does get confusing when you have different usernames at other places. I sort of wish I could now change them all to the same. It was just way back in the dawning days of forum use, I...
You all are supposed to be convincing me I want an e-reader, threads like this scare me. I need techy things to be simple or I get frustrated and break em :shifty
I am somewhat interested to see what some folks answer may be :)
I joined this book forum 8 years ago because I am an army wife, I move every 3 years, sometimes there's great book groups where I am and sometimes not. I joined this forum in particular because the vast range of members from many...
I use whatever's at hand usually, but I have amassed a tidy little collection of bookmarks over the years. Many were gifts and a few I have found in library or used books.
There's also Pomegranate Press, you can order 100 different bookmarks for $20 and I do it once a year and give them out in...
I love it when I find a bookmark in a book, this week I found a big, pretty feather in my library book :)
I also have seen a book that reminded me of this thread, Forgotten Bookmarks: a Booksellers Collection of Odd Things Lost Between the Pages, by Michael Popeck. I want to read it but haven't...
As has been stated before, I don't think an artist should be obligated to portray anything they do not feel. Artist that have shared events from their times have given us valuable insights into their time, culture and/or point of view, sometimes much deeper than mere facts could have. Sometimes...
I have always wanted goldfish, I set up tanks multiple times, of all sizes and have never been able to keep them alive. I can keep any other type of fish, cichlids are now mostly what I keep. Even made a koi pond but the raccoons ate the koi :( so I have decided to keep a gold fish avatar instead.
Peder, I think I would of enjoyed a chat with your grandma, thanks for sharing :)
I must of liked the books a bit because I went on to read all 3. They were a bit like potatochips, good in their own way but not so much for every meal ;)
You're right and that made me remember, even when I was little I had audiobooks. They were little read along stories, a book with a tiny record, I distinctly remember listening to Star Wars with my brother :)
Some of these older threads are interesting, because they show how much the world of reading has changed in such a short time :)
I love using my commute time to listen to books. And I am fortunate that my library has a nice selection.
