I never heard of Kim Sheridan so I don't have an answer nor a comment about this writer (I am assuming she is a writer). But, welcome to the forum.
I have read the un-cut version more than once. I have never read the reduced version so I can not compare the two. But I would say, it would be worth investing the time to read it and actually one of my 2012 reading goals is to read The Stand (un-cut version) once again.
