Definitely! I can't think of another horror movie that's so cheerful. Apparently the movie was inspired by an idea from the director's seven-year old daughter, which explains why the movie feels like a live-action cartoon.
More Criterion picks:
The Virgin Spring-4.5/5
I Was a Teenage...
The Criterion Collection uploaded a good deal of their library to HuluPlus. The site charges a monthly fee of $7.99 but they offer a free trial. Having signed up for the free period I viewed:
Hausu (House)-3.5/5
The Thief of Bagdad-4/5
The Hidden Fortress-3/5
The Borders near me is closing up in April. Having worked there this past holiday season, I have my issues with the place but overall I had fun there. I'll miss the relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff.
I preferred Falling Angels over Good and Evil. Good and Evil started out with such promise, but I became frustrated with all the crazy "characters" and town gossip. The side stories in Falling Angels were mostly relevant to the opera house plot, and even the ones that weren't kept my interest...
Sam Worthington (Perseus) admitted COTT had problems. He claims the sequel's going to improve upon them, but I'm not holding my breath. I will say I really enjoyed the scorpion battle. Best scene in the entire movie! The Kraken scene was mostly good, but the CGI looked obvious.
Clash of the Titans (2010). For the most part, I was disappointed. It didn't feel like an epic adventure. Also, Liam Neeson overdid most of his scenes.
"Harry's Law" ended up being okay. The trial scenes felt very unrealistic, but that's television for you. I can't wait for "The Borgias", "Camelot", and "Game of Thrones" to air. April's going to be a very good month for me TV-wise.
Anne Bishop, Jacqueline Carey, George R.R. Martin, and Richard K. Morgan don't shy away from writing mature fantasy. Try one or all of them (although Carey and Martin are my personal favorites).
Y'know, I was trying to figure out if there was a connection. LOL I briefly thought Helena Bonham Carter was playing Queen Elizabeth II.
Have you seen the miniseries Elizabeth I? It aired on HBO a while back; from the same person who directed TKS.
